When you head to the airport, you know you're going to be spending some time there.
You arrive extra-early so security check backups don't cause you to miss your flight. However, it's axiomatic that the earlier one arrives, the smoother the security check will be, so now you're at the gate with 75 minutes to spare.
Make that 105 minutes -- the airline just posted your flight as "Delayed."
You might as well get a meal -- Lord knows you're not going to be fed on board, though you're welcome to pony up $3 for a bag of chips (exact change appreciated). But where?
At O'Hare International Airport, where flight delays are virtually a given, there fortunately is a wide range of decent to good dining options, even sit-down restaurants with real waiters. They're scattered throughout O'Hare's three domestic terminals (there's a small food court in the International terminal, nothing you'd visit unless you were stuck there).
The bad news is that there are no signs in one terminal informing you of the dining options in the next. The good news is that I'm going to tell you where they are.
Fortunately, once you clear security, you can walk from one terminal to the next without having to relive the experience. So moving from Terminal 1 on to Terminal 3, here are my top 10 eats.

Terminal 1, Gate B5
A relatively new addition to the O'Hare mix, and a welcome one, this Mediterranean-themed spot offers flatbread pizzas, salads, wraps and grilled panini sandwiches ($9), including a yummy turkey with cranberry mayo. There's also a full bar and a surprisingly full selection of dessert pastries, including a respectable baklava. I just wish the place had more seating.
