YARMOUTH, N.S. - More celebration of Canada's centennial of flight is set to take off this month as the Nova Scotia International Air Show makes its Yarmouth debut.
Local municipalities and the Southwest Shore Development Authority are supporting the show this year, taking place Sept. 12-13 at Yarmouth Airport.
A Nova Scotia International Air Show news release promises some rare aviation acts in celebration of 100 years of powered flight in Canada, which began in Nova Scotia.
An F-86 Sabre jet from the Korean War will appear in the sky over Yarmouth, painted in the scheme of the Golden Hawks, a Canadian military aerial demonstration team that performed from 1959 through 1964.
The Sabre jet will fly some solo performances and join the Canadian Forces' Snowbirds in a flight as well.
Along with the Snowbirds, the Canadian Forces will fly a CF-18 Hornet jet fighter over the airport and the Canadian army parachute team, the Skyhawks, will also perform.
