The long-range master plan approved this week for Millington Regional Jetport would restore and add hangars, expand the terminal, build a taxiway and make other improvements.
The Millington Airport Authority unanimously approved the $17.7 million plan, a program of improvements to be carried out over the next 20 years.
The plan does not include lengthening the 8,000-foot runway, but it would protect a possible extension.
The relatively long runway and vast concrete aprons are plenty big for the aircraft using the airport.
Aircraft delays at Millington "are expected to be minimal over the next 20 years," the master plan states.
But the airport authority has higher aspirations: jobs and revenue.
It envisions aviation-related companies locating at the airport and possibly air carriers, too. The airport is certified to host an air carrier, and some have made inquiries.
