Flexplay No-Return DVD Rental Takes Flight with Hudson Group
Posted: August 15th, 2008

ATLANTA , Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Flexplay Entertainment -- the exclusive worldwide marketer of Flexplay(R) Time-Limited DVD technology -- today announced a retail distribution agreement with premier travel retailer Hudson Group. Per the agreement, Hudson Group will be the exclusive retailer of Flexplay No-Return DVD Rental in airports and transportation terminals throughout the U.S. and Canada , starting in September.

With the launch of this partnership, Flexplay DVDs will be available in approximately 200 Hudson News newsstands and Hudson Booksellers bookstores in airports and terminals throughout North America . Hudson News is the only national newsstand brand in North America . Each Hudson store will offer a revolving assortment of Flexplay DVDs, refreshed with new titles every four to six weeks. Currently, Flexplay Entertainment has licensing deals with Warner Home Video, Paramount Home Entertainment and DreamWorks.

"We are very excited about our exclusive partnership with Flexplay," said Joe DiDomizio , president and CEO, Hudson Group . "We've been setting the pace in our stores with travelers' necessities, convenience products, as well as food, beverage and comfort items that the airlines have been cutting back on. With Flexplay, we can now add to this list affordable and convenient option for customers' in-flight entertainment needs."

Flexplay Entertainment has found success in its strategy of targeting busy professionals, including business travelers. Flexplay DVDs, featuring attractive movie titles at low prices, are targeted to consumers who rarely rent or purchase DVDs at traditional video outlets by reaching those customers where they already shop -- such as airports, office supply stores, and so on.

Through its limited-life DVD technology, Flexplay DVDs offer the equivalent of a two-day "rental" of a movie, without the hassle or expense of returning the DVD after viewing. In addition, the 2-day viewing period for a Flexplay DVD begins only after the consumer opens the sealed Flexplay DVD package. Consumers can purchase a Flexplay DVD and start watching today, next week, or even a year from now, at their convenience.

"With this new retail agreement with Hudson Group, we have taken another important step toward fulfilling our mission to provide a more convenient and effective DVD rental alternative that offers customers complete flexibility," said Joe Fuller , EVP of Marketing for Flexplay. "The traveling consumer is a key target for us, and we hope to provide this customer set with a DVD rental option that is easy to enjoy during travel."

For added convenience, Flexplay DVD fixtures at Hudson News outlets will feature built-in recycling bins, making it easy for consumers to responsibly dispose of their disc after viewing. Expired Flexplay DVDs collected at these outlets will be sent to GreenDisk, Flexplay's recycling partner. The discs can also be disposed of in most regular plastic recycling.
