The Anoka County Board is no longer considering whether to back an airport expansion in Blaine.
Key Air asked the board to consider supporting extending the east-west runway at the Anoka County-Blaine Airport. The executive charter and aircraft-management service was interested in lengthening the runway from 5,000 to 6,000 feet. But Key Air withdrew its request for support last week.
The Legislature would have the ultimate decision whether to pass a law allowing an expansion.
Amid concerns from residents about a longer runway, Anoka County officials had scheduled an airport information meeting Dec. 2 in Blaine. But that meeting has been canceled, because of Key Air's withdrawal of its request.
Residents, and some public officials, were worried that an expansion would result in bigger aircraft and more noise.
