Today (16 May) the United States-based Transport Workers Union (TWU) plans to present the AMR Corp board members with a petition at their board meeting, calling for the company to reward ground workers.

The union has said that ground workers have generated USD700m in cost savings and hundreds of millions more in new revenue and it wants to see them rewarded instead of the company providing only bonuses to executives.

According to the TWU, in the past four weeks almost 17,000 citizens and airline employees have signed its online petition and commented about AMR's compensation practices.

AMR Corp is the parent company of American Airlines.
