More than 70 airports will be ready to handle the model by 2011, Airbus said.
Los Angeles International Airport is expected to be the first U.S. destination for the A380 after it enters commercial service.
The city's airports agency is spending more than US$120 million (?87 million) to upgrade Los Angeles International and nearby Ontario International airports and prepare for the new jets.
On its Web site, Airbus said that as of June it had received 165 orders for the new plane, which is priced at about US$319 million (?233 million).
