Airport on alert after fault with helicopter
Posted: March 11th, 2010

ABERDEEN Airport was put on full emergency alert yesterday when a helicopter reported an engine problem.

Emergency services were alerted after the pilot of the Bond-operated Super Puma EC225 reported an engine warning about 3pm.

Response teams stood down when the helicopter, with two crew and 14 passengers, landed safely at 3.15pm.

A spokesman for Bond Helicopters said the aircraft had been on its way to Aberdeen from the Schiehallion oil field west of Shetland when the pilot received an engine warning.

It landed safely and the helicopter was being examined by engineers last night, he said.

A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Airport said they had been put on alert after a problem was reported on a Bond helicopter, but it landed safely and the incident was over quickly.
